Territory of Shuddering

Have you seen this video? Shine On Me is apparently an interweb phenomenon, and for good reasons. To we who love the folk and the fae, I have to think that this is a touchstone of terribleness. I thought it was a parody when I saw it! Watch it. All of it.

Things like this are what makes people shudder when you tell them that every now and again you enjoy a visit to Faerie. And rightfully so - this is what they think of! I suppose that fantasy is just like everything else - when it is good it is very very good, and when it is bad it is horrid. Don't mistake me for being full of anger about this, though; I've spent most of the day laughing at the part where the ship blows up. And the guy's tiny moustache. And his muscled armor. And the part where he jumps away from the firebomb. And his flowing locks.

The Eccentric's Party Set-up

Can't you just imagine an eccentric oddball sweeping through her mansion with danging armloads of these baubles, decorating for a get-together of strange guests? And those bone china spoons would just slide through the lips like a sigh. Caroline Swift gives us a glimpse of the stranger side fairy land in her design, and I'm loving what she's got to show.

How the fair folk do holidays

I have been ob-sessed with these photos of the Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market from Phoe of Photographoe. You must check out her flickr set pronto, and tell me: is this not the way you want to shop every day? It's an utter goblin market! That haunting black night hanging over the Cathedral, the warm yellow caves of light in each tent, and a thousand wares for the oogling. I love to imagine bundling up and sipping some fairy wine while browsing the stalls, and finally returning home with some small bright thing clutched in my hand.

Don't forget to look at Phoe's blog for more pretty pictures.
