I'm procrastinating (again) in writing my entry for The Real Live Journal Idol and in my procrastination I have been looking at beautiful blogs, where I have found beautiful art! Via decor8 comes London artist Rob Ryan, who puts out some pretty prints that have an almost paper-cut quality. This one in particular gives me nothing but courage to meet the upcoming year!
What are those little guys up to?

Phoe thinks F&F is awesome!
Phoe from Phoeknits listed Folk and Fairy along with nine other astounding blogs that maker her day! Hooray hooray! Thank you Phoe!
Phoe is an American writer / photographer / knitter / geek / everything living in South England and her blog is chock full of pretty things like food, art, knitting, nature, and books - go take a look! Phoe, I would list you in my top ten if I a)had the time and b)wouldn't be cheating. Is it cheating to award the awarder? I don't care. It's my first blog award!

Goddess Jewels
Just in case you have never had the opportunity to look over 1ofmykind Goddess Jewels, I wanted to show you some of her very romantic, very filigreed offerings for the upcoming holiday, or really for any day. Like Friday!

I don't think I will ever be done sighing over art nouveau. The best thing about these pieces is that many of the prices are so reasonable. Prices range from $29 - $250, with top sellers coming out around $50. Not too shabby for fairy craftsmanship - usually they want your soul or your child, you know.

David Wiseman's sculptural pieces
Come warm yourself!
As I was perusing blogs this morning I came across artist David Wiseman via design*sponge. She was sharing his newest piece, a fireplace adorned by leaves and little birds. How beautiful is that? So beautiful. After looking through his site for awhile, I found that I recognized one of his chandeliers, a sculptural collage:
Again, so pretty. His site says that he is inspired by the intricacies of natural, growing things. Make sure you visit and see a closeup of the little gold spider who inhabits this chandelier. A lucky spider to live in such a palace!
I just loved these two pieces, with leaves trailing the ceiling - Sleeping Beauty, anyone? The wintery white palette makes it seem both modern and one hundred years old.

Fairytale - Sara Bareilles
This video is good fun, all around. Sara is apparently popular for her hit "Love Song" which isn't really my thing, but I love the specific fairytale references (as noted by rich_layers in Livejournal's Told Tales group) and the general mood of "Fairytale". Especially the Alice in Wonderland bit!

Anthropologie's Acorn Birdhouse
What a little fantasy home for birds! You can find this for $38 at the Anthropologie website. I'm a big fan of the green sheen on the bottom - perhaps because I can see nothing but white, brown and grey from my windows...there's nothing like a Pennsylvania winter.
My job is upon me once again, so I should take my leave. I am seriously considering quitting in the near future and focusing on more enjoyable things, but we'll see how things shape up. In the meantime, I hope you are all having a beautiful January! I know I am. I learned to spin yarn!

Damsel in This Dress Corsets
Happy New Year everyone! While other bloggers are serving up oversized portions of overrated things like optimism, goal-setting, and satisfaction, Folk and Fairy gives you what you really need: realism. In the form of a corset.
If you're like me, you spent most of yesterday and today stuffing your face with food that has expanded your waistline, perhaps momentarily, perhaps permanently. The solution, my friends, awaits you in this not-unstylish eBay shop: Damsel in this Dress.
Lacelass is on my favorite list of eBay sellers simply because I love to get emails filled with her pretty pictures of corsets. This expert seamstress can take inches off of your waist without your having to compromise your lust for cookies.
As you can see, she makes a variety of ensembles which are best viewed on her website and can be purchased either on eBay or at the fairs and festivals she frequents. So ring in the new year realistically: eat what you want while maintaining that hourglass shape.
I, for one, never feel like this time of year is really new, you know? It's a resting period, and a good time for planning, so I suppose a plan is more in order than a resolution. I plan to dedicate more time to this blog as well as my personal blog, and maybe work on finding my voice a bit more. I plan to learn to spin yarn, and to knit twelve pairs of socks - one each month. Funny how the thought of those easy things can bring so much satisfaction. Happy January 1!
