Christmas came early! Also, a meme.

Look at the print my wonderful sister Amy got me for Christmas! We exchanged gifts on Friday evening because I won't be with my family for Christmas this year.

It's called Sleepwalker and Amy said it reminded her of me! I love it. Art Star carries all kinds of lovely items, including some folky accessories and adornments. I think these are very cute:

I was tagged by Parsiri, who has a fun blog that covers arts, crafts, and miscellaneous beautiful things. I'm excited to do this because I'm kind of new at blogging (Livejournal is a different kind of thing) and I'm never sure how much info about myself to put into the posts.

The rules:
Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
Share 7 random and/or weird things about yourself.
Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

The Seven Things

1. I have a deep and abiding love for childhood nostalgia and this manifests itself in the only sizeable collection (besides books) that I can stand having: VHSs from the 80s and early 90s. From David the Gnome to Shirt Tales to Beverly Hills Teens - I love them all.

2. I hate clutter, but love the way it looks - in others' houses.

3. The other week I was showing my friend pictures from my childhood and we realized how often I was dressed as a bunny (Halloween, Easter, etc). From then on, I have seen rabbits everywhere, and have even bought a pocket mirror from My Favorite Mirror and a ring from Zlanarama. I'm thinking of starting a rabbit collection, in the interest of increasing my tolerance of clutter, so send me links if you've got them.

(I also discovered that my great-grandfather raised rabbits for experiments. Perhaps I'm cursed? Cute curse.)

4. I started college as a biology major. Though I loved genetics and ecosystems, organic chemistry did not love me. I got my degree in writing instead.

5. Shelly Noble of Notes From Halfland has asked me to be in the ending scene of her film which thrills me so much!

6. I am afraid of throwing up. Make that terrified.

7. If I see a beautiful drinking glass in a thrift store, I have to buy it even if my cupboard is full of a previous trip's bounty.

VivaTerra's icy trimmings

I've been so busy gazing at the Scandinavian holiday decor over on Ulla's blog that I have forgotten about my own white and silver findings. Reader Beth pointed me to Viva Terra awhile ago, and I've loved their stuff ever since! Viva Terra is an eco-conscious company (bonus points!) and their Christmas fodder just makes me wish I were celebrating in the hall of the Snow Queen. Although...I will be in Maine - close enough, right?

I love that nest! Hint.

Winter Matryoshka Pin

sweet and blue

Oy! Sorry I haven't had much time for posting lately; most of my blogging has been of a contest nature on my livejournal. I'm participating in LJ Idol, so not only do I have weekly assignments, I have to read 120+ entries and vote each Friday. My username is elva_undine, if you happen to feel like voting for me.

Anyway - this pin is so wintery and such a lovely shade of blue! (they come in green and red as well) I love the expressions on the dolls' faces. I found out about thymbl designs on Indie Public, and is she ever multi-talented! Her Etsy shop carries hand-knit fingerless gloves, broaches, key pouches, earrings - is there any craft this woman is afraid of?

I'm also into this kitchy magic forest keychain:

I hope everyone is having a relaxed, magical holiday season. I find that cats, hot chocolate, and a lot of online shopping are conducive to such a time...oh, and books too.
